Dev-team has released Redsn0w 0.9 today,. 8b1, capable of jailbreaking the latest Apple operating system for mobile devices, iOS 5 (beta).
East is a tethered jailbreak which means that you you must connect the device to a computer and run Redsn0w to get the "jailbreak mode" in it.
With all these improvements in iOS5, it is still release the device?
I used to jailbreak my iPhone in the past in order to obtain greater level of customization for him, have access to options that weren't available in the official iOS, settings that might improve my iDevice experience after all.
Many of these "improvements" are now available with iOS 5, missing still few.
In my opinion, iOS 5 is a big step forward for Apple, which seems to have learned from the community of jailbreak for the benefit of its customers. I hope that many companies would do the same (e.g. Sony).
Some of the characteristics which helped to achieve this breakthrough of Apple are:
Unified notifications
Phone to phone messaging
Newspaper/magazine subscriptions
Advanced reminder system
The entire Twitter integration
Quick camera access
Photo editing tools
Tabbed browsing
Reader view
Get email from text
Installation/updates without a PC
Wi-fi sync
Not many mobile operating systems today comes with many features that iOS one of the best mobile operating system on the market today.
Still remains the issue... is still a need for the jailbreak?
Many users say "Yes", jailbreak is a 'must have', probably because they don't know what you can do the new iOS, some may still have favorite applications not available in the new iOS (for example, BiteSMS), but many stay away from jailbreak from now onwards because most of the features that jailbreak for are now part of the operating system.
In the past, the jailbreaking was considered to be illegal, void the warranty of your device.
A few years later all become legal while not install / use a free paid through the jailbreak tools.
Today, jailbreak means much more than what applications signed does not run on the device (Apple require that every application that runs on your iDevice signed with a certificate, thus have a better control over their devices and the applications running on it), became a cult.
We still have to wait until the publication of the final version of iOS 5, but to take a look at the beta version, features built-in iOS than any other mobile operating systems can be proud of, making iOS 5 one of the best releases that Apple come out with.
