What is a Jailbreak?
Jailbreaking is a process that allows devices such as iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad Apple essentially "be free". Allows users to have something called a "root access" from the command line of the operating system iOS. This basically means that enables the users gain control over their devices, eliminating the limitations of the device. Allows the downloading of themes and extensions. It also allows users to download applications that are not in the App Store and perform other tasks that are not possible on devices not freed. Devices that are released still have all the characteristics not released devices have (by making phone calls, listening to music).
There are two types of jailbreaks; horrific and tied. An untethered jailbreak allows "idevice" turn it on and restart without the use of a computer. Jailbreaks tethered need a computer to activate the idevice or restart, proving to be much less comfortable. Jailbreaks tethered need team because the core of the device is not patched which means that the idevice can not start itself.
Is Jailbreaking illegal?
It is not illegal in many places. 2010, Jailbreaking is legal in the United States. Apple can still claim to annul the guarantee, which may be the only setback to her. Jailbreaking is also legal in many other countries, including the majority of them in Europe. The jailbreaking process cannot be easily reversed to restore your device in iTunes.
Do I'm going to get caught if I jailbreak in a country where it is illegal?
While they do not promote illegal activities, we say that it is the only thing that could get caught if you show an Apple employee and is jailbroken. You're probably safe. Any jailbreaking application would probably be less. The risk is very low.
The main question - what Jailbreak?
Jailbreaking allows freedom, something that we love and cannot resist. According to Patrick Henry, "Give me liberty or give me death!" Jailbreaking seems as plausible. It allows an idevice can make an incredible amount of things you couldn't do before. Jay Freeman, the creator of a popular application, issue and extension installer for devices with jailbreak called Cydia, estimated that more than 10% of all iPhones are released.Real and concrete examples of by what jailbreak users are listed below:
* Themes - can easily issue and change any part of the graphical user interface (GUI) of your idevice, ranging from the text behind your slider in the lockscreen, to the appearance of applications. Sounds for your phone (ie: tones, keyboard clicks, etc.) can also be changed. Each individual icon in applications can be thematic and may even subject app store applications! There are also many widgets html and other plugins that allow more icons on each page, updates live time and much more. Theming is one of the main reasons why users jailbreak.
* Applications - there are many applications that can be downloaded for jailbroken devices that are not in the App Store. There are many applications of small tasks and also many other applications that perform a wide variety of different things. Two very popular applications are biteSMS and MyWi. BiteSMS is an alternative to the iPhone app native "Messages". It has many additional features not available otherwise and is a cheap alternative to a plan of expensive AT & T text messages. Another application is MyWi. MyWi then allows your idevice WiFi (or 3 G or Edge connection) to another WiFi device activated as a laptop. For those of you who don't know, tethering here is simply allowing their idevices internet connection for transmission to another device.
* Plugins and extensions - many useful plugins and extensions are available for jailbroken devices. There are plugins and extensions that allow the users to download videos from safari and even see flash (Yes, flash, something that Adobe and Apple could not reach an agreement on)! Activator is a very popular and useful plugin that allows many actions by making simple gestures. An example is the opening and app keeping the home button, omitting music tracks by pressing the volume control button and much more. A popular extension and plugin Manager is SBSettings. It allows easy control of plugins and extensions of almost any site doing something as simple slide finger in status bar (the bar at the top of an idevice).
* Black - Black is a small and simple reason that some jailbreak for. Allows a contact filter called level, allowing you to block numbers and several things in this regard.
* Facetime 3 g - Facetime can only be used when the WiFi - unless they are released and have a little something called My3G. It allows the use of Facetime when connecting to 3 G rather than just WiFi. This means Facetime on the go!
* Bluetooth capabilities - there are many Bluetooth capabilities that Apple does not inform you. Many are fully accessible, such as file sharing, connect to the connection to a keyboard and a mouse!
* Access files as a team - the popular iFile application allows easy access to the files and access them in a manner similar to a computer.
* Emulators - there are many applications that range from an emulator of gameboy to a very early Macintosh emulator. There are many emulators that provide great entertainment.
* Fast call - an obvious feature missing the iPhone is now available on jailbroken devices. With a touch, users can call to a friend.
* Piracy: not an ethical reason and the majority disagrees with him (and they have a very good reason to be in disagreement with him - his robbery!), but unfortunately is one reason that some jailbreak.
There are thousands of other reasons as well!
One of the few faults with jailbreaking is that Apple may cancel the guarantee if discovered. This does not mean it is unlikely though because it is very difficult for them to know. They usually have to physically take the idevice to find out, but a simple restore through iTunes the problem because it leaves no trace of a jailbreak. Even if your idevice breaks, usually you can connected to iTunes and restored before bringing the idevice to apple to be fixed. There are also plans of insurance of third parties which replace an idevice if broken, so if there is a fear of the guarantee to be disposed of, third-party insurance is a safe alternative.
